So, yesterday after work, we decided to go to all-you-can-eat sushi...
We dug into more than half the dishes before I remembered to take pictures... But you all know what sushi looks like right?
Super salmon roll
Yummy roll
Salmon belly
Shrimp sushi
Sweet potato roll
Crispy salmon roll
Banana tempura
I tried avoiding all the deep fried stuff, but... Well. So, an hour after eating, I felt TERRIBLE. My insides ugh felt so gross. My stomach was not agreeing with the meal I just had. At least I know I never have to crave sushi again.
It was Justin's "carb day" and he was pleading for sushi, so I caved. (Do you know how hard it is to say no to him?) anyway, back to gluten-free, dairy-free, refined sugar-free, soya-free, corn-free. Which is EXTREMELY DIFFICULT because half the things you want to eat that come to mind has at least one of those if not a combination.
I'm left with slim-to-none choices. Meat, vegetables, fruits. Also because before I started this elimination diet, I have already been avoiding: berries, caffeine, chocolate and seafood. Because those are my migraine triggers, if I eat too much of those or have those on an empty stomach, I get these aggravating migraines and if I can avoid them, I will. I haven't consumed caffeine for quite awhile now, since last year.
Since fruits is a partial food "group" I can eat, I'm deeply saddened that I have to watch my "berry" consumption. Strawberries, raspberries, blueberries... Ugh! So delicious. Kiwis and pineapples, also delicious, but they give my mouth and throat a "fuzzy" feeling...
To sum up,
Allergies:
• severe (anaphylactic) to all tree nuts (peanuts) including oils and butters
• to all nuts (almonds, hazelnuts, cashews, pistachios, etc. every single kind) including oils and butters
• shellfish (crab, lobster, mussels, oysters, squid, etc)
• ragweed,
• all pollen (tree, flower, etc)
• animal dander ("hair")
• asthma
• anemia
• eczema
• lactose intolerant
Intolerances (not anaphylactic, but gives me all the uncomfortable symptoms)
• berries, melons (water, honeydew, cantaloupe), pears
• caffeine
• chocolate
• chef boyardee
• certain sauces... I haven't figured out what is the common ingredient but I've noticed I react to Alfredo sauce, most sauces in main dishes or ones that come from cans (like chef boyardee)
• chicken eggs (however quail eggs I love)
• breakfast foods (eggs, oatmeal, "mcmuffin" type things, basically anything you see on a "breakfast menu" tends to upset my stomach. it made traveling very hard. I could only stomach the "hashbrown" type parts of breakfast (potatoes)

There's a lot more, my body is really picky. It doesn't bode well with a lot of foods :( despite how much I love food
So the Elimination Diet is when you cut things out of your diet (or daily food consumption) to see if you improve/feel better (in my case, acne, overall skin "quality", energy, digestive system). You quit certain things for 2-3 months and see if it makes a difference. Then, you can choose to slowly re-introduce them back into your diet (one by one!) and see if it triggers anything or if you can tolerate it. For example if you gave up dairy for 3 months, then had a milkshake and some cheese cake, and you broke out the next day or had a skin flare up? Yep, that was a trigger. Best to keep it out of your system.
